It has a small tank/pump combo with the markings stating that it should contain propain on the engine but the pulley is siezed. Runs ok w/o it. Any suggestions?

Math Questions.? Rounding #'s?

All you do is to look at the underlined number, if it's lower than 5, then remove the underlined digit and all digits right of it, if it's 5 or above, then you do the same but you also add one to the digit left to it.Example:0.7234 rounded to the tenths is 1,0.9304 rounded to the hundredths is 0.9.

Who do you think will win the AFC West?

With teams like the Ravens and the Jets looking like the wild card teams for the AFC with 10-4 records, its obvious that the only chance for the 8-6 Chargers of making the playoffs is if they win their division. So what are the chances of San Diego winning out against the Bengals & the Broncos, and the 9-5 Kansas City Chiefs losing to either the Titans or the Raiders to give the AFC West Title to San Diego? (can you believe that Charger fans might actually find themselves rooting for the Raiders on January 2nd?)

Are there signs that you'll go into labor soon? (not signs OF labor!)?

My advice is to try to stop stressing. There is no clear indication of when labor will start. Stressing about it can definitely make yur body more reluctant to start though!! If you are impatient for baby to come, you can try some natural techniques of starting labor. Walking, rotating your hips while sitting on an exercise ball, , all of these can work, BUT ONLY if your baby and body are ready. I know how you feel trust me. My first was late and I was just as antsy as you. But baby will come and it's best to let them come when they are ready instead of evicting them! You can do this!

Who here has a REALLY strong relationship filled of love with their cat?

I have had that relationship with several cats, it's really a wonderful feeling. I have had cats that have ped on but somehow spiritually even though I thought I would never find happiness in another cat, they have appeared again. It's almost like they came back as another cat. We all die eventually which is what's so great about cats is they live in the moment, and they teach us to do the same. Take Care!

I'm worried that I'm crazy.?

Nobody can "diagnose" you here. But I would suggest that you go and speak with a psychiatrist. Either way- that is what you need to do. There is no such thing as an online psychiatric diagnosis. Too much is involved- like the doctor has to see you- how you speak and sit and walk and talk to make an essment of your emotional state. What is weird is that you know that you are having auditory hallucinations and that you think what you are experiencing is not real. That makes it sound a lot more like some form of neurosis. If so- then you would probably do best with psychotherapy. If however it is a form of manic depressive illness, then medication is the therapy of choice.

Yes... especially since the time I asked a question (don't remember what it was), and some guy answered saying "This is my answer: [URL link]"... I'll never click another link again unless it's from my contacts.

Why does my fish swim like this?

My rosy tetra, has been acting funny lately. She's been more different than usual and different compared to my other rosy tetra. What I think could be the case, is when she ate a huge block of food that another fish ate but dropped. And my rosy tetra ate the whole thing in one gulp. And ever since then, it's been paler, breathing funny, and swimming sideways. Is she choking? She's been like this for about 3 weeks now.

Does anyone know a good reference site for odd antique values, such as magazines, ornaments, dishes, etc.?

My 94 yr. old granny is a hoarder who's been living in the same house since 1941. We are currently moving her/cleaning out this home, and coming across some amazing finds--i.e. 1941 National Geographic/ 1952 Family Circle/1953 Field & Stream, vintage clothing, antique toys and furniture, as well as many odds & ends that we know nothing about (except that they're very old). It's not like we can rent a room to an Antiques Roadshow expert (lol), so any other ideas please?

Ok I have a problem.....?

it's a hard question to answer. everyone has there opinions and we can't tell them what they think is wrong or right by our own standards because in truth we don't even truly know. I would have to say that yes it was a terrible act murdering his family i have no problem with that statement. unfortunately some don't agree with that. we can't change what people think. so some people will say it was disrespectful and some won't but that is that.

Ebay auction goes **** up online selller makes a Kerry Catona needs the cash?

Only you could ask a question like that....a few come to mind. But l wonder if you lopped at the ceiling how long it would stick there for, what do you think xx

Please help me with this essay question! In what ways has Adolf Hitler impacted America. Thanks!?

Well, lots of Jews came here to escape from his rule before it was too late ( kind of like a diaspora). So we have a more diverse culture, seeing as before that most Americans were of the Christian faith. That's definitely not the case anymore. I guess we are kind of biased toward Germans because of his tremendous attribution to World War II.

Ramadan: Did Allah leave Islam incomplete by not appointing the Successor to Muhammad (saww)?

The deen was perfected for the prophet, not for everyone. As soon as the prophet is gone, the religion begins to go astray. Its perfection is lost almost as soon as it is achieved.

I am making a baby quilt and I am going to back it with fleece. Do I need to put batting inside? I just want a thin quilt, and I do have thing batting, but do I need to put batting if I have fleece for a backing? I guess it would just depend on preference, but I've never used fleece for a backing before. What would you do?

Is the discovery of special relativity enough proof that the universe was designed by an intelligent being?

And why don't they teach about Lorentz Transforms vs Galilen and Newtonian physics, space and time equivalence, m and energy equivalence, and ripples in space-time fabric, that can actually be calculated mathematically? I have taken engineering physics at two different colleges, and neither one covered Einstein, twin paradox, or the Michelson-Morley experiment. My professors say that many colleges don't cover it.. It has been a while since I studied the subject, but at the time, I did manage to study it enough to make good sense of it, as it was my team's project, and we did a presentation. But it was not until recently that I looked back and thought something extremely intelligent must have designed the universe, if we can now mathematically calculate almost everything happening in the natural world, proving there is a logic and formula to it that actually makes sense. Nature must have been designed in some way. Is there any other explanation to how the universe came about? I think the probability of the world being formed out of adaptation is out of the question. What do you think?

Whoever finsihes the test first gets a candy bar( theres a limted supply in the vending machine) the tortise finished last so there isn't enough left for him. Then to make fun of him people wrap ice in a wrapper as though it is a candy bar. The test maybe should be on a newspaper. The tortise ends up getting an a plus and everyone is so jealous.

Bangladesh: Flood Palace?

I've heard on the news some time ago that some time ago that a mansion/palace in Bangladesh (probably a "rajah bari" i.e. king's home) was revealed after the water levels went down. It was rotten (because it was submerged under water for a long time) and people were afraid to explore inside because it was dangerous. I don't think the locals knew the building existed. I remember what it looks like, but can someone tell me the exact location?

Taking the GED in NY?

Currently im 18 and I am looking to get my GED. I recently went to a ged preparation center and they gave me some sort of preliminary test which I got a overall 90 average. The tester I spoke to told me that in english I got the highest score possible and the math I got the second highest score and my reading was really high as well. So basically I just want to take the test because in reality, I do not need to take any cles or preparation courses. So does anyone know where I can go to just take the GED and not have to deal with any cles.

Do you think an asteroid will hit earth ending the world in 2012?

Lot's of people said an asteroid, the size of Texas, would hit earth and cause smoke, blocking the sun, killing everybody.

Do you think that Mark Sanchez is overrated?

Yes. I think part of the reason has to do with him being in 2 AFC championship games since starting his career. There are many QB's that are better than he is, and haven't had the chance to be in one of those games. Sanchez has potential, but he's an average QB. The only reason why the Jets made it that far is because of their stellar defense. But if you take that away, then the Jets are just a 1 dimensional team that has a QB that can't seem to be consistent each game. He's had great games, but I think many fans especially in the media look at his AFC championship appearances, and fail to see that Sanchez isn't a great QB. He has the ability, which is why he is the starter in NY, but I am not impressed when I see him play.

Don't my parents know i blame them for being born?

Read the signs in your life. No one is able to control his or her life. Everything in life is unstable and cannot last, not friends, not a good party night, not winning a game. There's only one that has been, is now and will always be. He is Jesus. So, what do you do with things that you cannot do anything about? Just pray. Jesus will hear your prayers, He can muscle through for you life's obstacles. He will make everything in your life good. God can do anything for you in Christ Jesus. Let Jesus take the lead in your life and see things transform. Have you tried Jesus?

How can we stop this pea brain government from pricing us off the roads?

I totally agree 100% !!! The worst part is most of us don't even earn that much anyway. i myself am in the minimum wage bracket, and yet i have to pay the same road / fuel tax etc . as someone who is on 30k per year, I'm on about 9K, and have been for the last 3 years , without any kind of pay rise there is no Chance of ever keeping up!

Do you think the word "desperation" is written all over one's face when looking for a relationship?

Opinions, please! And, no, it's not me. I keep telling my girlfriend and others that are looking to be right with yourself first, in other words, get your life in order. Then the attraction from someone good will come. It won't look like desperation, you know like getting drunk, etc., acting out, looking sad, standing in the corner. Yeah, you may get someone, but not anyting lasting. I tell you, one can smell it! And she knows what I'm saying is true because I had good luck like that twice. True love. She doesn't agree, she says it shouldn't matter, that if someone likes you, they just do and it could last forever. Now, she has me questioning myself and so I'll put to the YA test!

How come the liberals are turning against Obama?

Your question is confusing and possibly nonsense. Most liberals had doubts about Obama from the beginning. It was mostly the anti-Clintonites who pushed Obama's candidacy. Since most liberals support a single-payer or Canadian-style health care system, they never strongly supported Obama's reform plan anyway. Get your facts straight.

Installation of a pellet stove insert?

We're installing a pellet stove insert in our existing fireplace. The manufacturer, Harman, instructs that a steel plate should be installed with rock wool (mineral wool) inside the chimney. The rock wool is handy for condensation as well as fire retardant purposes, but what's the purpose of the steel plate?

What if next year for Christmas I just send out chocolate advent calendars and crackers as everyone's gifts?

The crackers are a good idea, maybe you could even make your own by buying empty ones and filling them with more personalised stuff? Or you could go for those super deluxe crackers that actually have really good stuff in! The advent calendars would be good, but because they would need them before christmas they wouldn't exactly be a christmas present I guess..

Identify a B&W movie about a woman in an insane asylum?

I caught a portion of this movie on TV a while ago and was fascinated by it - never figured out what it is entitled - it's an old black and white movie about a woman who is a patient in a mental hospital who is subtly manipulative and charming. One of the hospital's employees (a psychiatrist, presumably) falls in love with her and is devastated when she has a tryst with another patient in the hospital, and ends up going insane himself. It seemed to be pretty edgy for its time - I wonder if anyone can tell me what movie this is. Thanks!

Why does the mainstream media continue to insult us?

I agree. Did you know she picked up three superdelegates today? Probably not, because he media is focusing on some ex cabinet member endorsing Obama. The media bias has gotten ridiculous...there is nothing they won't do to try to convince us that he is the heir apparent. She clearly won the debate the other night and all we here about was how unfair the questions were. Well...if the media had done it's job and Obama had answered the questions (instead of changing the subject in the name of "distraction" - which is what he always does when he is exposed) months ago, the debate would have been about policy. I commend ABC for asking him those questions, but even now they are reporting that Hillary conceded that Obama COULD win the nomination, rather then reporting that Obama did an awful job of answering questions and even bald faced lied on the gun issue. Thy are essentially handing the presidency over to McCain. PA will say no to this just like Ohio and she will prevail here on the 22nd.

I'm being run out of my apartment by centipedes. Help!!!?

The construction work done on our building was kind of shoddy. There's a huge gap where the air conditioner was installed that looks straight to outside. I swear I can hear people outside (and down 3 floors) clear as day through the outlet by my bed. Anyway, the point is the centipedes have overtaken my apartment, presumably through these various gaps to the outside world. Can I caulk these spaces? What would you recommend? My realty company is sloooow and I want to take care of this problem quickly, but don't want to do something permanent to my apartment that I may get in trouble for (read: charged for) later. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Can troopers radar be accurate even if both cars are moving towards each other?

some states have stopped that practice due to precedent cases where the "speeder" had shown the inaccuracy of a certain radar gun... you have to look into specifics as to whether it was i your state and whether the specific radar gun was used aaaaaand be able to afford to fight it. i would say it's a better idea to do the dd

Would you want AUS and NZ to unify?

cc_of_Oz is correct. There is provision in the Australian Constitution for New Zealand to become the seventh State of Australia should they want to do so. All that is required is for New Zealand to hold a referendum and if the people agree, they become part of Australia. Australia has no say in it, we made the offer at Federation and the offer still stands. It is up to New Zealand whether they join Australia or not but I don't think they will.

What's it like to work at a Hershey plant?

My sister and I have to attend an orientation in a few days and we're looking for as much information about the actual work involved as possible. Everything on their website is vague and doesn't really elaborate on what the job will entail. We'll likely be doing some sort of packing/moving job but the temp place told us we can be doing anything Hershey wants us to do, it could even be scrubbing toilets. Anything will help but it would be really nice to get some information from someone who has worked there before.

Spiritually speaking, why is Samian so good at being a Poe?

Iraq War will be a victory for the US no matter what happens to Iraq - hear me out?

Yeah, we know this. Anti-war supporters don't seem to understand that. Now I'm not advocating war, but we did do what we set out to... except find WMDs.

Who thinks that Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas are just better off friends?

I think that Miley gives Nick major heartaches, I mean they look kinda cute together but they just look like they're good friends. I think they're future Britney and Justin (Spears and Timberlake). At first they have puppy love, they brake up, Nick goes successful dates someone totally better looking and Miley goes through a brake down. Don't you think?

Do we have frozen pipes?

Cold water to where? If you are getting cold water to the kitchen then your mains water coming in from the street is fine. This mains water goes to all cold taps in the house because you have a combi. Also the mains water goes to the boiler and from the boiler you have hot which is the mains water flowing through the boiler getting heated and out to all hot taps.

All Conservatives! Voice your opinions! No liberals please!?

Because Americans are free to choose their own destiny, government control over the lives of US citizens does not in any way constitute freedom.

Where should I place the commas in this paragraph?

When the muskrat went under the bridge I moved so I could face downstream comfortably. He reappeared and I had a good look at him. He was eight inches long in the body and another six in the tail.Muskrat tails are black and scaled flattened not horizontally like beavers' tails but vertically like a belt stood on edge. In the winter, muskrats' tails sometimes freeze solid and the animals chew off the frozen parts up to about an inch of the body......

Will a mouse murder its young without eating it?

I just got back from a trip, and I opened up my sock drawer, and inside was the decaying, horrific remains of a dead baby mouse, or possibly rat. It was still nearly bald, with sparse gray hair just starting to come in. I had seen where mice had nested in my drawers before, with little pieces of paper and cotton piled in the corner, underneath the clothes. This baby mouse was drug to the top of the pile of the clothes, away from the nest. A trail of blood was running across the tops of the clothes, and, get this, the mouse was just laying there, completely intact, except for a big hole gnawed in the side of its skull, and it looked as though its brain was completely removed. Also nearby it was a small hunk of meat. I don't know if it was the animal's brain, or maybe some of it's innards, or even just the remains of another baby that was almost entirely eaten. I didn't get a chance to examine it before my dad threw it out. Now I know mother mice will kill their babies and eat them if they are extremely sick, or kill them and remove their bodies somewhere else, but this baby was only moved to the top of the pile of socks that the nest was under, which would be senseless if the mother was trying to protect the rest from disease. Other than its mother, I can't imagine what else could have gotten in there and killed it. The only other detail I find very relevant (and I have a pretty lucid imagination :)), is that in the drawer I also had a bag of an herb called "mugwort". It has interesting drug properties, and is used to give you very intense visual dreams. You can smoke it or ingest it toward that end, but it works just as well to be near some while you are sleeping, and believe me, IT WORKS. I'm wondering if maybe the dreams had an awful psychological/spiritual effect, and could have driven the mother a bit crazy and made her kill her offspring with no apparent genetic or hygienic benefit. Or is this something mice and other rodents are known to do for some other reason? I would appreciate an open minded answer to this. Thanks.

Has anyone else lost their respect for the Yahoo Answers moderators or whatever they are called?

I asked a lot of questions that were serious questions and I really needed advice from other people. But they removed it saying something stupid like questions must be asked in the form of questions! I actually got a message saying like I need to be careful and if I am reported to many more times I get banned! Seriously!?!?! For what, because some bored Yahoo Answers moderator reported me for something stupid!?! Has this happened to anyone else, or am I on my own?

What is a bigger accomplishment?

The Super bowl is definitely a bigger deal than the World Series, and it's nearly impossible to buy a title in the NFL (though they will be handed to you periodically if you're a team from Pittsburgh) so winning a Super Bowl is a bigger accomplishment ... except if the Stealers come out with the trophy.

What should I say to my best about her promiscuity?

If she is making you uncomfortable, then say so in a nice way. You can offer your advice and wisdom about her activities and their consequences. Just realize that she may or may not respond the way you hope. Ultimately the decision is hers, it is her life. I just hope for her own sake, she will make better choices from now on.

Worst Head Coach Ever...... Eric Mangini!?

Hands down Eric Mangini is definitely the worst head coach ever. He destroyed to Quarter Backs with a whole bunch of potential careers. And the Browns is the worst organization ever because they went for this guy this offseason as if he was Bill Belichik. And what is so funny is how Eric Mangini went about picking the starting QB this preseason, he made it seem as if (lol) the Browns were going to make this big thing and overtake the league!!! ERIC MANGINI IS A CLOWN!!!!!!!

Do I have a legal case against Public Storage and/or Willis Insurance?

I am currently storing some of my furniture at a Public Storage facility. I opted to get insurance just in case something happened. The insurance they offer is through a company called Willis. It is a third party company, separate from Public Storage. In the Fall of 2008 I visited my unit, and noticed a leak from the fire sprinkler. There was water all over the ground. My TV was sitting in an inch or 2 of water, and there was water on the top of my TV. My mattress was completely soaked, and there was a large rust stain on the side, approximately 4 inches in diameter. There was also a rust stain on the bottom of my sofa bed, which was stacked on top of my other sofa, and I could feel that the sofa was also soaking wet. I contacted the insurance company. They sent me a letter telling me how to send in the receipts and photos. I mailed all of my receipts and emailed my photos, and I never heard from them after that. Apparently, this Willis Insurance company doesn’t send claim adjusters, they just go off of the pictures. You can clearly see that damage was done from the photos; however, to get a real idea of what has happened, someone really needs to come and see it. It is hard to take pictures that shows the full damage considering, my unit has no windows or light, and you can take a picture of a sofa, and prove that it is wet. I recently revisited my unit, only to fine that the rust stains have turned into a thick red sludge. It’s been 5 months, and nothing has been resolved. I’m paying on a unit with damaged furniture (approximately $1240.00 since the damaged) with no hopes of being reimbursed for the furniture or the rent. Public Storage did offer me a new unit; however, I would have to pay for the movers to move my belongings from one unit to the other (approximately $400 for San Francisco), and I don’t have the money. Neither Public Storage nor Willis said that they could reimburse me for the move. What do I do now?

How do health insurance tax deductions work for a member managed LLC?

I own a business (LLC) with two other people. It is only us three; we do not have any additional employees. We pay for our health insurance through our business. Based on these facts, I was wondering how much I stand to save on my personal taxes. Is this a standard write off like any other business expense or does the IRS treat health insurance differently?

Watts up with Venus -- tough question?

Mars too has a CO2 concentration of 95%. Obviously it doesn't have a warm atmosphere. Could it be as Goddard implied, low pressure? He actually implied high pressure on Venus so I am uming it also applies to low pressure on Mars. It is an excellent example of alarmists taking convenient facts and igoring inconvenient ones or do you have other theories?

Do I need to get another sound card for this motherboard?

I'm "building" a comp on ibuypower.com and the motherboard I've chosen is a Asus P5N32-E SLI nForce 680i SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound. Is the onboard sound card any good? If not, I was thinking of upgrading to the Creative Lab Sound Blaster Audigy SE (which is also 7.1). What's your opinion? Most people don't like onboard cards but this one doesn't seem so bad since I'm not even getting speakers that are 7.1 (the ones I am getting are Creative Labs SBS-580 5.1 Surround Sound + Subwoofer). So should I switch or not?

And Hernandez for Ely? Wow. I don't know who else is on your team, but I know it's much, much, much improved by adding those guys. Sweet trade!

What do you think of the American Psycho book?

I have read the book a few times, and it is truly an amazing book. But I am still wondering whether Patrick Bateman did kill Paul Owen, and who he did or didn't kill. I understand the themes and the ending perfectly, but I want to know what you people think actually happened. Or if you think that Bret Easton Ellis specifically left enough clues for the reader to make it his/her own interpretation of it.

Should I work in a call center even if it pays great?

Does working in a call center really sucks even it pays big? But even students who finished nursing, engineering, computer courses still opt for this stressful yet high-paying job. Even some corporate jobs in big companies seems to be miniscule when compared to call centers offering handsome salaries and amazing benefits. But is it really worth it to work there?I even heard in the news that a call center agent recently died of hypertension while working in the call center. This has made me to think twice before jumping into this industry. The salary sounds real good but i am taking health into consideration which is very important. And as a bit sensitive person that i am, they say it has no place to work in a call center coz of the verbal abuse an agent has to take from irate callers as well as insults from managers and supervisors. Now, it makes me so confused bec. i do want to earn big in less time but the high pay demands a great price from its workers too.Should i go for it?

Asking this question is horribly shallow. Think of how many people not willing to date you due to you being blind. You found a sweet man that appreciates you. Be thankful.

Once I was in California and it was the last day before we left back for England. It was the morning (I had cow pyjamas) and it was pretty cold so I snuggled up really tight and when I was shivering, all of a sudden I went 'Ahhh that's warm...WARM!!!?' It was then that I realised that I had an 'accident'. I keep laughing at it now...: ) Oh and bear in mind that I was ten... : )

The bible is a mythology book?

As Joseph Campbell, the great historian of mythology, so clearly pointed out, anyone that takes any of these old books of mythology literally has completely missed the point. The bibles old and new, the Koran, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Book of Zoroaster, and all the rest of the "holy" books are merely collections of mythology. They are metaphors and parables about how to live your life and how to face death. They are highly imperfect users manuals on how to get through this veil of tears we call life. If you actually believe that Jehovah is an old (white) man with a long beard who is watching each and every one of us over six billion humans and judging us, you're an imbecile. If you literally believe that Jesus is Jehovah's son, you've decided to turn off a big portion of your brain and not deal with reality. If you literally believe that if you kill an infidel that Allah will bless you with seventy-two virgins in the land of milk and honey, you've definitely got a screw loose. These are all myths. Period.

Car stuck in 3rd gear?

My friend has a 92-94(Not sure at the time) Plymouth Laser, I believe what happened was he was driving along, and when he stopped at his friends house, it didn't shift out of 3rd gear. Reverse works fine. We have NO idea what the problem is, and he doesn't want to take it to the shop because neither of us have the money. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. The car is an automatic, by the way.

Can anyone give me some relationship advice?

you should not have told her something personal about your friend to begin with. Also she might like your friend but even if she didn't, then why would you want someone who was hanging all over one of your friends. "i was drunk" just sounds like an excuse.

Who do i have to contact to go through my family history?

i'm having trouble just coming up with how to get to someone and how to get to them to go back a few generations, because i love family history... i have information on the past 4 generations before me, but i want to go back a few more. Why weren't the citizens of Russia enamored with President Obama?

I believe they mistrust Obama and they feel he is weak...and they don't want to give extended coverage to a man who is bringing his own country to Socialism, which Russia now is trying to integrate to Capitalism! I believe that Putin liked Bush, as he felt that Bush was honest; and strong in foreign policy. This trip was not a success; maybe for Russia, because as usual Obama gave away the company store...trading away missles..We already had a decent relationship with Russia..so I think this trip was a big bust...Russians do not trust Obama...and it is as simple as that. Listen, news goes around the world in a second today, so don't you think they know about Gitmo; giving terrorists constitutional rights; that he took over banks; insurance companies; car companies; and is slowly bringing this country to Socialism; the philosophy they despise and kept the people of Russia slaves of the state for 50 years...

Do you believe that Visa/MasterCard etc are our first views to that big brother society we will be living in?

Every where we go we now have cameras watching us. Paper money seems to be on it's way out, and without a credit card you are severely limited in what you can and cannot do. I would like to know if you think we are in our first awkward steps into the prelude of the mark of the beast or not.

What does a decline in the stock market really indicate?

I only have a marginal understanding of the stock market and how it works. Any economists out there want to help me out? The biggest source of confusion for me is how dropping stocks affect the real world. Here's what I know, fill me in on anything I'm missing or anything I completely misconstrue: the economy slumps when stock prices/stock sales drop, which indicates that businesses aren't selling/doing as well. Does this mean that prices jump to accomodate for drops in sales, and so on? Any help would be great, I just don't understand the real implications of slumping stocks in relation to businesses/individuals.

Why does SNL suck so much?

The difficulty of writing good sketch comedy is underrated. I happen to do it (not for SNL). If you go back and look at the previous years of SNL, you'll see that they had plenty of sub-par sketches in there...it's just that people only remember the great sketches. The task of producing a 90 minute comedy show, performed live (in under one full week, no less) is an order so tall that even the best comedy writers are challenged by it. Andy Samberg has had plenty of great Digital Shorts and weekend update is consistently solid, but they haven't really settled in since losing Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. They have missed the mark on some recent recurring sketches like the Vincent Price parody -- Bill Hader does a great impersonation, but they're definitely missing their demo on that type of thing.

Depends on your parameters and what you want for your output. For example sorting a multi-dimensional array could be done by sorting one dimension or another, but it could also be the relationship between all the dimensions like sorting names in alphabetical order.

Global impact McDonald's has become emblematic of globalization, sometimes referred as the "McDonaldization" of society. The Economist magazine uses the "Big Mac Index": the comparison of a Big Mac's cost in various world currencies can be used to informally judge these currencies' purchasing power parity. Because McDonald's is closely identified with American culture and lifestyle, its international business expansion has been termed[by who?] part of Americanization and American cultural imperialism. McDonald's is a perpetual target of various and often conflicting anti-globalization protests worldwide. The brand is known informally as "Mickey D's" (in the US and Canada), "Macky D's" (in the UK), "McDo" (in France, Quebec, the Philippines, and the Kansai region of Japan), "Maccer's" (in Ireland), "Maccas" (in New Zealand and Australia) or "de Mac" (in the Netherlands). Thomas Friedman once said that no country with a McDonald's had gone to war with another.[8] However, the "Golden Arches Theory of Conflict Prevention" is not strictly true. Careful historians point to the 1989 United States invasion of Panama, when NATO bombed Serbia in 1999, and the 2006 Lebanon War as exceptions. Some observers have suggested that the company should be given credit for increasing the standard of service in markets that it enters. A group of anthropologists in a study entitled Golden Arches East (Stanford University Press, 1998, edited by James L. Watson) looked at the impact McDonald's had on East Asia, and Hong Kong in particular. When it opened in Hong Kong in 1975, McDonald's was the first restaurant to consistently offer clean restrooms, driving customers to demand the same of other restaurants and institutions. In East Asia in particular, McDonald's have become a symbol for the desire to embrace Western cultural norms. McDonald's have recently taken to partnering up with Sinopec, China's second largest oil company, in the People's Republic of China, as it begins to take advantage of China's growing use of personal vehicles by opening numerous drive-thru restaurants. [9] In addition to its effect on business standards, McDonald's has also been instrumental in changing local customs. By popularizing the idea of a quick restaurant meal, Watson's study suggests, McDonald's led to the easing or elimination of various taboos, such as eating while walking in Japan.[dubious – discuss] CriticismPotted plants at a McDonald's. The company has been a target of criticism practically since its inception. Since the mid-1990s this protest has taken the form of an anti-globalization movement as doented in Naomi Klein's manifesto No Logo. McDonald's restaurants have been the targets of protests, peaceful and otherwise, by environmental, anti-globalization and animal rights activists. The company has used a litigious approach to protecting its business interests. This conflict, and the company's approach to resolving it, was epitomized in the early 1990s by what came to be known as the McLibel case. Two British activists, David Morris and Helen Steel, distributed leaflets entitled What's wrong with McDonald's? on the streets of London. McDonald's wrote to Steel and Morris demanding they desist and apologize, and, when they refused, sued them for libel. The trial lasted more than two years. The company's advertising techniques and business practices were scrutinized in the High Court of Justice in London and reported extensively in the press, who saw the case as a David and Goliath battle (under UK law, legal aid could not be granted for a defamation suit, so Steel and Morris did most of their own legal casework while McDonald's was represented by an extensive legal team). In June 1997, the judge ruled in favor of McDonald's, awarding the company £60,000 damages, which was later reduced to £40,000 by the Court of Appeal. The amount was low because the judge ruled that some of the claims made by Morris and Steel had been proved, including that McDonald's exploited children in its advertising, was anti-trade union and indirectly exploited and caused suffering to animals. Steel and Morris announced they had no intention of ever paying, and the company later confirmed it would not be pursuing the money. Steel and Morris later successfully challenged UK libel law in the European Court, arguing that it was an infringement of the right to free speech. The British Government was forced to re-write the legislation as a result. In 2005, a film by Ken Loach was made about the court case. In 2001, Eric Schlosser's book Fast Food Nation included criticism of McDonald's' business practices. Among the critiques are allegations that McDonald's (along with other companies within the fast-food industry) uses its political influence to increase their own profits at the expense of people's health and the social conditions of its workers. The book also brings into question McDonald's advertisement techniques where it targets children. While the book does mention other fast-food chains, it focuses primarily on McDonald's. In 2002, vegetarian groups, largely Hindu, successfully sued McDonald's for misrepresenting their French fries as vegetarian.[10] Even after the discontinuation of frying the French fries in beef tallow in 1990, the French fries still had beef extract added to them. The French fries sold in the U.S. still contain beef and animal flavoring. McDonald's biscuits also contain beef flavoring along with animal flavoring. Also in 2004, Morgan Spurlock's doentary film Super Size Me said that McDonald's food was contributing to the epidemic of obesity in society, and failing to provide nutritional information about its food for its customers. For 30 days Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald's (supersizing whenever asked). He ate everything on the menu at least once and continued to eat after he was full. At the same time he consciously attempted to get little or no exercise. By the end of the month he had gained 24.5 pounds (11.11 kg), was moody and had less interest in . Others have disputed Spurlock's claims (see below). After the film was shown at the Sundance Film Festival, but before its cinematic release, McDonald's stated it was phasing out its Supersize meal option and would begin offering several healthier menu items, though no link to the film was cited in this decision. However, while the healthier menu items have appeared, the Supersize meal option still remains available at some locations. The company also began a practice of putting nutritional information for all menu items in light grey small print on the reverse of their tray liners. It is currently phasing in nutritional labeling in clear black print on the actual packaging of its food items. Anthony Bourdain on his show, No Reservations, has criticised McDonald's among other fast-food restaurants for its culinary blandness. Legal challenge over trans fats In September 2002, McDonald’s announced it was voluntarily reducing the trans fat content of its cooking oil by February 2003. Because of operational problems, the oil was not changed on time. In the ensuing lawsuits, plaintiffs claimed that McDonald’s didn't do enough to inform the public that the oil was not changed. The bantransfat.com website contains testimonials from people, one claims she thought the oil was low in trans fat, and she said, "that is why I have been eating there every week..." In a settlement agreement, bantransfat.com said "While there is a difference of opinion regarding whether McDonald’s gave effective notice to its customers that the oil was not changed, McDonald’s deserves recognition and credit for having achieved a reduction in the trans fat levels ... and for working diligently over the last two years to test additional cooking oils." Nevertheless, bantransfat.com demanded monetary damages. Settlement of the lawsuit brought by BanTransFats.com and one private party requires McDonald’s spend up to $1.5 million to publish notices on the status of its trans fat initiative. McDonald’s will also donate $7 million to the American Heart ociation for public education about trans fat. [3]. The settlement also requires some money be paid directly to bantransfat.com. The California Superior Court for Marin County has entered an order preliminarily approving the settlement. Supporters of McDonald's point out that the company is successful because it meets the needs of customers and adapts to its customers wants. In response to public pressure, McDonald's has sought to include more healthy choices in its menu and has introduced a new slogan to its recruitment posters: "Not bad for a McJob". (The word McJob, first attested in the mid-1980s[11] and later popularized by Canadian novelist Douglas Coupland in his book Generation X, has become a buzz word for low-paid, unskilled work with few prospects or benefits and little security.) McDonald's disputes the idea that its restaurant jobs have no prospects, noting that its CEO, Jim Skinner, started working at the company as a regular restaurant employee, and that 20 of its top 50 managers began work as regular crew members. [12] In 2007, the company launched an advertising campaign with the slogan "Would you like a career with that?" on Irish television, outlining that their jobs have many prospects. In a bid to tap into growing consumer interest in the provenance of food, the fast-food chain recently switched its supply of both coffee beans and milk. UK chief executive Steve Easterbrook said: “British consumers are increasingly interested in the quality, sourcing and ethics of the food and drink they buy". McDonald's coffee is now brewed from beans taken from stocks that have been certified by the conservation group the Rainforest Alliance. Similarly, milk supplies used for its hot drinks and milkshakes have been switched to organic sources which could account for 5% of the UK's organic milk output[13]. In other cases, the firm has shown itself ready to adjust its business practices. When the public became concerned that product packaging was environmentally damaging, McDonald's started a joint project with Friends of the Earth to eliminate the use of polystyrene containers, only in the United States, and to reduce the amount of waste produced. Throughout the McLibel trial, senior representatives of the firm said they were merely trying to protect its image from undue and unfounded attack. With regard to its numerous and often controversial copyright and trademark actions, McDonald's lawyers say they are simply protecting the company's intellectual property. Super Size Me has been characterized as a non-scientific publicity stunt. The subject of the film consumes mive quantities of McDonald's food, to the point of being sickened by it. Eating on an hourly schedule and, as part of his rules, eating additional quantities each time a McDonald's worker says the word "supersize," the subject gains weight. Following the release of the film Super Size Me, some people reported they had experienced no weight gain and suffered no ill effect by eating only at McDonald's for a month, but choosing menu items more judiciously and exercising frequently.Minimize Me Merab Morgan, a North Carolina woman, was even able to lose weight.Woman loses 33 lb on McDonald's diet She claimed that the transparency of nutritional information made it easy to control her daily caloric intake. McDonald’s will also donate $7 million to the American Heart Association for public education about trans fat.
