Uninstalling microsoft office XP on Windows 7?

I have a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit, home premium if I remember correctly. I installed microsoft office XP thinking it would work but it doesn't, at all, and it constantly gives me this pop up window that says 'preparing to install' then just disappears and reappears almost endlessly. I can't uninstall office using the control panel because it just keeps telling that I'm not system admin even though I am. I really want to get rid of this program but I'm lost on what to do so help please.
