I joined an adult yahoo group and the owner/moderator is asking for a donation so he can keep the group runnin

He says it is for him because he puts so much time into the group and it weeds out the people who are serious. It is not necessary but it seems strange that he is asking and saying he needs it to keep the group going. Is that against Yahoo TOS?
